Journal Metrics:
Journal metrics are used in order to evaluate the relative importance of a journal and to identify major journals within a
special field of study.
The most commonly used metrics are: Journal Impact Factor (JCR), Scopus, SCImago SJR, as well as Google Scholar Metrics. Ranking is divided into Qs, with Q1 being the highest.
What are predatory journals?
Predatory journals pretend to be bona-fide academic publications, however, they are simply fraud. In order to avoid them, make sure that you check the Cabell’s Predatory Reports.
Researcher Metrics:
1. The h-index is an author based metric, also to be found in JCR (Web of Science) and Scopus.
2. In addition to these bibliometric tools, it is also recommended to have a Google Scholar Profile and an ORCID account.
