Start Using Mendeley​​

To start using Mendeley you should create an account and download the desktop program to your computer.

  • Create an account (free or institutional).

  • Download the desktop program.

  • Install the web importer.

Create new mendeley account

To create new Mendeley account, go to the Mendeley website and click ‘Create a free account’.

Fill in the required fields (first and last name, email, password) and click 'Get Started'.

You can use your Technion email or a different email (Gmail, Yahoo and others).​

By clicking 'Finish' you will agree to the terms of use.

You can also log into Mendeley using the same credentials that you use for other Elsevier services, such as Scopus or ScienceDirect.

Download the Desktop Program​

Immediately after creating new account you will be able to download Mendeley Desktop.

If the download does not start automaticaly go to the 'download mendeley deskt​op' page in the Mendeley website and click 'Download Mendeley Desktop':​

Install the Web Importer

Install the Web Importer to import references from different databases to Mendeley Desktop in the easiest way.

Mendeley Web Importer is available for all major web browsers.

In order to install the web importer go to 'Mendeley Web Importer' page in the Mendeley website.

Firefox or Chrome

Select the browser and click red button to download the extension:

Safari, IE and more

Install 'Save to Mendeley' button to save to import references.

There are two ways to install 'Save to Mendeley' button:

  1. Drag the 'Save to Mendeley' button to your bookmarks toolbar or to your bookmarks.

  2. Right-click on the button and choose to add this link to your bookmarks.​
