SUPPORT FOR TEACHING STAFF
The Technion libraries provide support and services for those who deal with education.
LIBRARY SUPPORT FOR EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
The libraries are responsible for purchasing
course textbooks; the quantity is determined by the number of students.
Ebooks can be accessed via the
cataloguing record. One can search for these books by course number, title, author, keywords.
We suggest that you get the link for the ebook from your
faculty library and include it in your course material in Moodle.
Course lecturers and teaching assistants may borrow textbooks for a semester (and do not have to purchase them). Contact us for further information.
The libraries offer to scan documents that are used as teaching materials (book chapter, journal articles, etc.). These scans can be loaded into Moodle. Contact your
faculty library or the Central Library for more information.
The highly trained library staff conducts
personal and group instruction sessions to teach students how to use the library resources to search for information on their own (scientific journal articles, standards, patents, reports, theses, statistics, etc.). The sessions are geared to the subject being taught and emphasize the relevant materials and databases.
Mendeley, a reference management tool, is also taught.
A mutually convenient time and date for instruction sessions can be arranged.
Instructors are urged to consult the Central Library staff regarding the copyright of visual and graphic material included in the course materials. For your convenience we provide a MOOCs Guide with detailed information regarding copyright issues.
