Create Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID)
ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.
Registering for ORCID is available for free.
To Create Researcher & Contributor ID, go to https://orcid.org/register, fill in the required fields and click 'Register':
You will be provided with a 16-digit number that is compatible with the ISO Standard (ISO 27729), also known as the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI):

professional information (alternatively):
Though you may only need to provide the last 16 digits when submitting your ORCID ID to another system.
If you already have a ResearcherID in Web of Science or a Scopus Author Identifier in Scopus, you will be able to export your information and publications into the ORCID or to add records manually.
